logoFood on Foot is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax-ID#31-1581053) dedicated to providing the poor and homeless of Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, and assistance in the transition to employment and life off the streets.

Food on Foot operates a weekly meal program every Sunday in Hollywood. Food on Foot began in March 1996 as one man's response to the hunger he witnessed among the poor and homeless of Hollywood. What initially began as the distribution of meals from the trunk of a car has grown through the dedication of its volunteers and now serves more than 250 meals each week to homeless, disabled, elderly and low-income adults and children. more about us >

Food on Foot means there is a viable program out there that produces tangible results. We have all heard the old adage, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime." It is the concept of "teaching a man to fish..." in practice. This program takes dependents and makes them productive, taxpaying citizens.

At the serving there was a girl today that was about 12 years old, one of the needy that showed up for a warm meal and some clothes. She had been coming to Food on Foot since she was 1 year old.

We need volunteers.....

05/19 - We have many volunteer opportunities available in May.

We have a very unique program where the homeless collect trash to earn their food each week. Many have graduated after approx. three months and now have full time jobs that enable them to pay for their housing and leave all government assistance. We have helped turn tax burdens into tax payers for the last 15 years.

Best wishes for a happy and healthy new year!

Congratulations to another graduate of our Work for Food program

Gabriel D. has a full time job at the Fubar Restaurant in West Hollywood. He has his own apartment in Hollywood and is completely self-supporting and off all government assistance. He joins the growing list of WFF graduates now giving back to their community, and we invite you to meet him at an upcoming Sunday serving. We are so proud of our Work for Food program that turns tax burdens into tax payers.

A Big thank you to T.Baker and W. Shadow for producing the following three minute video.

Work for Food

Each Sunday afternoon 40-50 homeless and poor individuals participate in our trash clean up program. This is the first step in their attempt to increase confidence and ultimately obtain a full time job and housing. We are proud that so many have graduated our program and are now completely self-supporting and off all government assistance.
